Ellick Jones has existed for over sixty years, tracing back to the joining of the law practice of Alfred G. Ellick with that of Robert M. Spire's father, Clarence. Al Ellick followed in the footsteps of his father, Alfred G. Ellick, Sr. a private practice attorney at the turn of the century who also taught at the Creighton University School of Law and coached the Creighton football team. After four decades of practicing together, Bob Spire left private practice to represent the people of Nebraska as the Nebraska Attorney General and later as the Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Bob Kerrey. Continuing the tradition started by Al Ellick and Bob Spire, Amy Longo has served as President of the Omaha Bar Association and the Nebraska State Bar Association. Amy Longo was the first woman to hold the office of President of the Nebraska State Bar Association. The current lawyers, save only the youngest, were trained in the law practice by Al Ellick and Bob Spire, two truly distinguished members of our legal community.

US News & World Report BadgeThe firm continues the practice of law in the professional manner begun by its founders. We are a remarkably cohesive group; all the lawyers in the firm have spent their entire private practice careers with the law firm.

Our overall goal was taught to us as we were young lawyers in training: We take a genuine personal interest in our clients. This approach means that we have deliberately stayed smaller in size while keeping, as a group, the background and skills necessary to provide a full range of services to our clients. This approach means that you and the lawyer with whom you are dealing will come to know each other well and that your calls will be returned as promptly as possible. We create long lasting relationships with the businesses, persons, and families we serve; relationships which span decades and generations.

We focus on preventing and solving the problems of the families and businesses we represent. We are a general practice firm handling a wide array of issues that include: estate planning, probate, real estate, business planning and litigation, tax planning, immigration, health care, employment, contract disputes and personal injury. When client problems arise which are not of the sort we generally tackle, we can still be helpful. For instance, while we do not typically deal in divorce, we often can help by making a sensible referral of the matter to a divorce specialist.

For us, the satisfaction in practicing law is knowing our clients and caring about what happens to them.
